Trying to pay attention

My favorite librarian posted this video on her blog; it's a seven-minute message about the importance of technology in the classroom. Definitely worth watching (for teachers, at least).

Just a lurker stopping in to say.. Hello!
I am a CPS teacher as well, and do keep my own blog - but it focuses on other things besides my classroom. It was picked up by Chicago Parent magazine so it's here now:

Best of luck with finding a good fit for a new job - here's to hoping that it's still within CPS (don't give up on CPS yet!!)

Thanks, Amy. Thing is, I'm not done with CPS, just Chicago ...

I loved the video about teaching with technology but it does assume that EVERYONE has a cell phone or an I-Pod or internet access at their convenience and isn't that a bit of an assumption. As for the comment about seniors thinking that high school learning was a waste of time - well, that just might be one of those opinions that changes with a little experience and perspective....last time I checked high school graduates still make more than non-high school graduates so apparently SOMETHING was learned....

I too am a teacher whose administration forced me to watch that video. So I decided to do some survey's in my class about the number of students who know about and are actually using the technology in this video - my results were very, very different. I think technology is a good thing, but not always practical in the classroom. Not to mention that kids now-a-days get technology without even knowing it!
